Quilling was called quilling in the 1800’s as well as paper filigree and other names.

Also quilling DOES NOT REQUIRE SPECIAL PAPER (any 20-25 lb paper that will curl works) NO BOOKS AS THERE ARE TONS OF FREE ITEMS ON THE WEB (Many of the legitimate quilling stores have links to such sites) and NO TOOLS ARE REQUIRED. There are many people who quill with only their fingers. So you’re mistaken about your statement other then quilling is inexpensive to start. ” Did you know that quilling is one of the least expensive crafts to get started with? It really only requires a small bit of specialty quilling paper, a beginners book and a few quilling tools.”

Although quilling can be done without tons of skill, quilling that is sold takes time to learn and create. Pieces can take months to complete. It is not a “craft” but rather an art from. This is one of the reasons both quilling guilds either have minimum criteria or are creating such criteria.

Those interested in quilling will find many FREE supports if they search for them. Before buying any book check with experienced quillers (there are many online groups and 2 quilling guilds you can contact). Don’t buy an e-book just because they promise a ton of “FREE” things. I bought such a book and it was a waste of energy and I never got any of the “Free things” other then some really lame e-books about dieting and running a business (and that book was also a waste of space).
